Piano lessons in Oegstgeest

IN ENGLISH AND DUTCH • FOR ALL LEVELS AND AGES

about you

Having piano lessons is first and foremost an opportunity for you to discover and develop your unique connection to music. Whether you are an aspiring professional musician, a complete beginner, an adult returning to the piano in the hopes of rekindling a long-lost talent, or you simply want to play the piano as a means to unwind, I am dedicated to creating a learning experience that honours your goals and meets you exactly where you are.

AN INVESTMENT FOR LIFE

Learning the piano is not just an enjoyable activity; it is an investment in focus, coordination, creativity and self-expression. While my own background is in classical music, I encourage students to explore different styles, develop their own musical tastes and become increasingly independent musicians. Through careful guidance, active listening and effective practice, I help them build technique and musical understanding, while encouraging them to choose music that inspires them, discover what it means to them, and gradually take ownership of their own musical development.

I believe that the most beneficial thing that can be gained from having piano lessons is discovering a love and appreciation for music that can never be lost.

about me

MY VISION

I believe in the deeply restorative power of music — it has a unique ability to bring balance, peace and comfort into our lives.

Because every student has their own distinct needs and learning style, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Lessons are uniquely tailored to the needs of each student. My focus is on helping students to discover and reach their full potential at a pace that feels natural and managable. We work together in a supportive space where musical skills can grow and a love for music can thrive.

MY BACKGROUND

Born into a musical family in Cork (Ireland), I learned to play both piano and cello from a young age. I studied in Cologne, New York and Berlin before receiving my Master of Music degree in piano performance from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Currently I am pursuing a master’s degree in music therapy at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam.

lesson plans

Although learning the piano always involves a degree of long-term commitment, I offer three different lesson plans to suit varying levels of experience and availability. All lessons are given 1-on-1 in my studio in Oegstgeest ― online lessons are only offered in exceptional circumstances. Lesson times vary between 30 minutes and 1,5 hours, depending on your individual situation. Your first lesson with me is always a free 30 minute trial lesson, after which we can agree on the most suitable lesson plan for you.
